Alice: Madness Returns

EA Games in connection with Spicy Horse studio are teaming up to create a new videogame sensation that takes Alice in Wonderland to a whole new terrifying level.
Alice: Madness Returns has no set release date, but there are teaser trailers all over the internet, so you horror game-loving Xombies can get a look. The graphics have a dark, cartoonish style that would make Tim Burton proud. The game is in the 3rd person, and from what’s been revealed in the teasers, you’ll get to have tea with the Mad Hatter and wreak some lovely havoc on the evil creatures now populating Wonderland.

According to EA’s website, Alice will be encountering familiar characters including the aforementioned Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat, the Caterpillar and the Red Queen. You’ll also get to use fanciful yet awesome melee weapons like the explosive Teapot Cannon, the punishing Hobby Horse and the legendary Vorpal Blade. Peculiar magical abilities are another feature of this game, including shrinking or growing to enormous sizes in order to crush enemies or floating away with Alice’s dress.

The plot deviates from the original Alice tale we all know and love. Here’s the synopsis from EA:
“Eleven years ago a horrific fire took Alice’s family from her and left her mind horrifically scarred. Afterwards she was confined to Rutledge Asylum, where she struggled to confront her demons by slipping further into her fantasy world of Wonderland. Now, after ten years, she has finally secured her release—yet she still bears the heavy psychological burden of that tragic event.
With her mind in tatters, she is unable to resolve the fear prompted by her strange memories, dreams, and visions. Perhaps she’ll do better in Wonderland. She always has. She travels there, seeking what the “real” world can’t provide: security, knowledge, and the truth about the past. But in her absence, Wonderland too has suffered. Something has gone horribly wrong, and now a great evil is descending upon what once was her beautiful refuge. Can Alice save Wonderland—and herself—from the madness that consumes them both?”

This interesting twist in the story let the game makers create a world that explores the darker and violent side of the imagination. The enemies of the game are the demons that haunt her visions that grow and become increasingly worse as you explore the nightmarish version of Wonderland through Alice.
